Sheringham in Bloom awards 2009
Sheringham in Bloom held their annual award ceremony at St Andrew's Church Hall on Friday 25th September where the Common gained two nominations from 'Anglia in Bloom ' judges. One was in recognition of the nomination for the biodiversity award 2009 and the second was in recognition of the nomination for the best conservation award 2009. The nominations were made from a number of proposals and works shown to the judges last July. These included the new grassland management carried out by Sheringham Town Council and the restoration of the dew pond on the Top Common, north of the Cromer Road. The sympathetic pond clearance on the SSSI and for the low key conservation works carried out to protect rare orchids and other wetland plants. Also mentioned by the judges was the information board and enthusiasm of the team involved.
