OPHIOGLOSSACEAE:
  Adder's Tongue. Ophioglossum vulgatum Linnaeus
Not seen recently due to area becoming increasingly 'rough' and overgrown.
OSMUNDACEAE:
  Royal Fern. Osmunda regalis Linnaeus
  Restricted to a small part of Area V. 
POLYPODIACEAE:
  Common Polypody. Polypodium vulgare Linnaeus
Confined to shaded banks alongside main track through Area VII.
DENNSTAEDTIACEAE:
  Bracken. Pteridium aquifolium (L.) Kuhn
Since 1985 the area of bracken has been significantly reduced by conservation bodies.
THELYPTERIDACEAE:
  Marsh Fern. Thelypteris palustris Schott
A few plants present in south central part of mire (Area V).
ASPLENIACEAE:
  Hart's Tongue. Asplenium scolopendrium Linnaeus
Single plant recorded from secondary woodland southeast of Pill-box Hill.
WOODSIACEAE:
  Lady Fern. Anthyrium filix-femina (L.) Roth
Generally found in damp secondary woodland along west side of Pill-box Hill.
DRYOPTERIDACEAE:
  Male Fern. Dryopteris filix-mas (L.) Schott
Occurs throughout the Commons in suitable habitat.
  Scaly Male Fern.* Dryopteris affinis (Lowe) Fraser-Jenkins
Plants showing characters of this species were noted in 1999.
  Crested Buckler Fern. Dryopteris cristata (L.) A. Gray
Remains virtually confined to a few square metres of Area V.
  Broad Buckler Fern. Dryopteris dilatata (Hoffm.) A. Gray
Generally common throughout.
    Narrow-leaved Buckler Fern. Dryopteris carthusiana (Villars) H.P. Fuchs
A few plants present in south of Area V and along southern boundary.
BLECHNACEAE:
  Hard Fern.* Blechnum spicant (L.) Roth
Single record from Area V in 1979.
